Martin is going Modern Deluxe in 2019. Since 1833, C.F. Martin guitars have been the top American acoustic guitar company. Taking a classic design and always modernizing it. Innovations like the X-brace and the dreadnought body shape made this company what it is today. Now, they are taking their classic designs and giving them a modern engine. Meet the new Modern Deluxe series. The new series combines sophistication and performance to create a truly unique playing experience.
Modern Deluxe Models
The new series will be available in 4 different flavors. One 18 series and three 28 series guitars. The two dreadnoughts are the D-18 and the D-28. We also have a 000-28 and the OM-28. The Orchestra Model or OM has the longer dreadnought scale length at 25.4″. The 000 model has the shorter 24.9″ scale length. Both share the same 000-14 fret body shape.
Vintage Looks with a Modern Engine
This series looks like your classic Martin but has modern features. These features will not be seen but will be heard. Starting with the VTS Sitka Spruce top that gives the tone of a classic Martin that has been played for many years. The scalloped Adirondack braces are the same that were used in Martin’s Pre-War models. The 18 series have genuine Mahogany back and sides. The 28 series will have rosewood.
Some modern features are the titanium truss rod that is 64% lighter than a standard truss rod. A carbon fiber bridge plate that increases the volume of the guitar without adding weight. Gold frets and Liquidmetal red dot bridge pins help bring this guitar to the next level in both looks and tone.
Martin also updated the neck to give it a modern feel. They are calling the neck ultra-low profile that is slightly asymmetrical for maximum comfort.
