The DBX DriveRack PA2 is a stellar piece of equipment. There are a lot of options when it comes to PA systems and a lot of potential guesswork. Well, DBX has taken out all the aforementioned guesswork for you with the DriveRack PA2. We put this article together to highlight five reasons that you need to add this to your PA rig and trust me once you hear about this thing you will understand and agree. Enough with introductions, let’s get into why the DriveRack PA2 is the one for you!
All New Setup Wizard
First up, DBX has gone through and created all new Wizards for the DriveRack PA2. Not just a setup wizard, but AutoEQ/Level Assist wizard, AFS Wizard, etc. Basically, they have made sure anything you were uncertain on has a helping hand that will guide you in the right direction. See, they took out the guesswork. For those that are more seasoned, and don’t need the extra help, there is the option to select individual Wizards rather than running all which there is also an option for.
The Wizard function also helps you easily configure level balancing, AutoEQ, Advanced Feedback Suppression, and provides access to built-in speaker tunings from most major speaker manufacturers. With all this in mind, think about how good it will feel to buy something and be coached in how to work the finite features within minutes of opening it up.
Next, we have the AutoEQ which is a huge advantage to other traditional PA systems. Not only is this the most accurate way to set the levels and the room EQ, but this is also the quickest way. Almost instantly you can concisely set everything for any room by simply using the AutoEQ feature. Additionally, the AutoEQ uses 8-Band Parametric EQ which means NO MORE PINK NOISE! Thanks to DBX your levels and EQ will always be perfect for any size room. There are also several preset EQ modes including flat, speech, band and DJ which of course are application specific. Finally, you can store presets for easy recollection of familiar rooms and setups which is perfect for Bands and venues.
Enhanced AFS Feedback Elimination
Next up is the Enhanced AFS algorithm which offers faster, more precise feedback elimination, without adversely affecting your system’s tone. Nothing turns audiences away like annoying and potentially painful audio feedback. Now think about this, how many times have you been to a concert that the levels weren’t right… bottom line it’s not fun to listen to. Fortunately, DBX engineers have revisited their already-stellar Advanced Feedback Suppression algorithm and made it work even better. The DriveRack PA2 listens for and anticipates feedback and adjusts speaker output automatically before it even has a chance, while never altering your sound.
Technically this is part of the EQ but trust me, this is another one of the top reasons you need the DriveRack PA2! The graphic EQ in the DriveRack PA2 can be manually adjusted to fine tune your sound. Let’s say that you wanted a little more low end than the AutoEQ gave you, well simply adjust by essentially drawing in the EQ curve you want. It is literally colored on a screen so you can adjust according to your specific needs. This is cool in my opinion because it is the other side of the coin. Not only will this give you the perfect option, but it also allows full and complete customization.
Lastly, I think one of the coolest features of all, is the mobile control which is compatible with iOS, Android, Mac, and PC. I mean come on, that is huge. No matter what you are using you will be able to control all parameters from your mobile device. So maybe you are all dialed in then you decide to add a little more high end, it’s as easy as grabbing your phone and adjusting in the palm of your hand. We are quite actually living in the future ladies and gentlemen. The real shining factor here is the compatibility. You can use any computer and tablet, any phone to adjust all parameters. Mind=blown.
